Together Through it All:

Kinsley’s Story

Aloha from the Sylva-Kanagusuku ‘SK’ Family.  At Ronald McDonald House Bay Area, we believe in the power of family. For the SK family, that power has been their greatest strength during Kinsely’s medical journey. When Kinsley, the youngest of four siblings adopted by Jennifer and Lahela, was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder causing severe epilepsy, her family traveled 2,500 miles from Hawaii to Stanford for life-saving surgery. The journey was daunting—financially, emotionally, and logistically. But it was one they faced together as they have always faced every other challenge.

"The House made things more normal for us in this time of chaos. With thoughtful programs and a variety of activities, we were able to reduce the stress and anxiety of what we were going through."
